Drivers' Hours Law Regulations

New Regulations were published for Drivers’ Hours. They were published in the document entitled:

(EC) No 561/2006 OF THE EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT AND OF THE COUNCIL

Most of the revised Drivers' Hours Law Regulations came into force on the 11th April, 2007, though some parts came into force on the 1st May, 2006.

Briefly, from 1st May, 2006, drivers had to be able to produce, whenever an inspecting officer so requested:

• the record sheets (tachograph charts) for the current week and those used by the driver in the previous 15 days;
• the driver card if (s)he has one;
• any manual record and printout made during the current week and the previous 15 days.

Also, from the 1st May 2006, drivers had to record:

• “other work”  under the (crossed hammers) symbol
• “availability”  under the (square with line) symbol
